CTK Field Trip November 2009 : Caleb's first field trip - and it was to Albertson's grocery store. Luckily Mommy got to go since she's off track! Yay! Caleb enjoyed it immensely and Mommy loved getting to meet so many nice Moms (and one DAD) ;)!!! I think Caleb's favorite part was petting the LOBSTER.

Disneyland with Mommy November 2009 : Mommy wasn't sure if she wanted to chance taking the kids to Disneyland by herself when Caleb got done with Preschool. But, she decided she doesn't get the t that often, so off we went. The weather was perfect, no lines, and the kids were soooo well behaved and darling she wondered why she had been so worried. ;) Now they've tricked her into trying it again sometime. Hee hee!

Halloween 2009 : We went to Sabbath School then after lunch made some fun Halloween deliveries to friends. As soon as the sun went down we were trick or treating around our cul de sac. It took our kids forever because Caleb was afraid there was a dog in each home and Gracie was afraid of the decorations. Then we went to the Fall Festival at the Calimesa SDA church. The kids had so much fun!

LA County Fair Sept/October 2009 : We were able to spend two afternoons at the fair. One was just not enough. We had a GREAT time. Caleb liked the dinosaurs. Gracie did not. Gracie liked the petting zoo. Caleb did not. :) We got to go with Grandpapa Rivera and we were lucky enough to meet Kim's co-worker Shirley and her grandsons. A fun time was held by all!!!

New Cape & Slip from Schickles 091009 : Grandma GoGo made this beautiful cape for Caleb so he could be "Prince Phillip" for halloween. Grandpa JoHo helped devise the clasp. They did such an awesome job. Gracie already has her Sleeping Beauty costume but asked Grandma GoGo on the phone if her "Princess cape" was ready yet. . . . so Grandma GoGo tried to figure out what to make for HER. We told her that the Sleeping Beauty costume is itchy and irritates Gracie's skin. So Grandma GoGo made this beautiful slip . . . that looks cute as a dress!!! She also made two cute necklaces. They were both ecstatic when the package came and have wanted to wear them every day since! Thanks sooooo much!!!

Happy 10th Anniversary : Marc said he was going to go get our rings cleaned in honor of our 10th wedding anniversary. He said when they looked at mine, the diamond was loose so they needed to send it away to get a better binding. He said we should have it before we leave on our cruise. I thought it was odd he forgot to leave his own ring for cleaning . . . but I thought he must have been too distracted by the thought of my diamond being loose. He picked it up tonight and after dinner he told the kids he was going to re-enact the day he proposed to me. He got down on one knee and pulled out my ring . . . only instead of having a plain gold band . . . this one had DIAMONDS!!! Wow! I was surprised. If you knew Marc, you'd know he's really bad at planning surprises and a horrible liar. :) I was very touched and the kids LOVED watching Daddy get down on his knee!!! They thought something more exciting was going to happen . . . so the ring was anticlimactic to them. ;) But to me . . . ;)

Marc's Happy Birthday, Zoo, & Kid Fun August 2009 : Marc was surprised by his wife with a night out on the town - a move and dinner. Then he was even more surprised to find we were staying the night at the Mission Inn. Yay! First time away from our kids for a whole night. ;) Then we had brunch with the McClures -thank you so much!!! Then we were going to surprise Marc with a whale watching cruise but the cruise was canceled for that time. So we went to the San Diego Zoo. We had a great time. The next day Marc got off early from work so he was able to celebrate a birthday "picnic" dinner on the patio with the McClures. They brought him his favorite - Chocolate Prune Cake. Mmmmm!

In Honor of Father's Day! : Caleb & Gracie are so blessed in the "Daddy department"! Their Daddy loves to play with them, take them on adventures, do "tricks", visit Disneyland, go hiking, celebrate holidays, and teach them new things! He is laughing all the time and his laughter is infectious. They will have many sweet memories of childhood thanks to their awesome Daddy!

McClure Baby Shower #2 May 3, 2009 : It was the perfect temperature with the most amazing people in attendance! We had a great time showering the McClure family with love and giving their unborn baby our love and best wishes for his future! We can't wait to meet him and to find out what name his parents decide he looks like. :) We missed some important people in our lives who could not make it - but we felt your spirit with us! Here's the quiche recipe from the shower. It was happy new surprise! Sweet Ricotta Breakfast Quiche presented by Barrow House Inn Ingredients: For Topping: 1 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1 tsp. cinnamon For Filling: 2 pie crusts in pans 3/4 cup butter or margarine 3/4 cup sugar 2 lbs. ricotta cheese 6 eggs - extra large to jumbo 1 tsp. orange extract 1 tsp. vanilla 1 egg white, beaten Directions: Mix flour, sugar, 1/2 cup butter, and cinnamon in food processor. Set aside to use as pie topping. For filling, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix in with electric mixer. Mix in orange extract and vanilla. Add ricotta and mix well again. Brush the two pie crusts with the beaten egg white, and then pour filling into them. Sprinkle the topping on. Bake for 1 hour at 375 degrees. Let pies cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. 2 Pies - 8 Servings Each

Gracie's 2nd Birthday Party 032909 : Gracie had a Fairy birthday party - fit for our little 3rd percentile for weight little girl! Mommy didn't plan very far ahead this time . . . so the invites went out earlier in the week. But we had just the right amount of people for our little pixie hollow. :) Gracie had a great time! I had fun being creative - with the little creativity time I can squeeze in - and Marc was my ever-ready party partner like always. Thank you to those who came to celebrate Gracie 2nd year of life with us - it means the world to us. And to those who could not come - we missed you and hope to see you soon!

Joshua Tree : After the wedding at Eisenhower Medical Center we drove to Joshua Tree. We had a picnic of Linkettes, celery with peanut butter and crackers. Yum! Then we took a walk on Hiddden Valley trail. The kids loved it. Gracie copied everything Caleb did and loved trying to follow him up rocks. We were almost done with our glorious hike when she touched a cactus. OUCH. She got tiny little hair like needles in her hand. We tried to pick out as much as we could as she screamed. Caleb explained what happened to others as they passed by. We finally gave up and headed to the car to try with tweezers later. She felt better after we stopped picking at it and just held her hand away. Poor baby. Other than that - it was a wonderful day. ;)

Pirate Caleb's 4th Birthday Party : Caleb could not wait for this special day . . . and had been planning it since his last birthday. :) He really wanted the pirate theme!!! Most of all he was excited to know who would be there . . . and kept asking who was on the list and who had called. Luckily, he had a blast for the first hour. He ran, jumped, played games. Then he suddenly hit a wall . . . come to find out he had gotten an ear infection and had a fever. He sleepily, sluggishly blew out candles and opened presents. Then next day he remembered having the "best birthday party ever" and enjoyed looking at his presents as though he'd never seen them before. My poor baby! We sure enjoyed seeing everyone . . . and that for sure meant the world to Caleb!

Christmas Day 2008 Afternoon/Evening : The party moves to our house. Caleb opens presents by himself as we wait for the McClures. He was so cute. Each gift he would find his name, then show each of us that it said his name on it. Then he'd proceed to open it and show everyone. That evening Erika, Caleb and Kim went to pick up Grandpa and Auntie Abby at the airport. We drove in the pouring rain. Then Me-Me, Grandpa, Ryan, Aunt Kathleen, Uncle Greg and cousin Jason all came over. We had such fun surprising them all with Grandpa and Abby's surprise visit!!!

Christmas Eve 2008 : We had such a wonderful time at Grandma & Grandpa Edberg's house for Christmas Eve dinner. There was so much yummy food . . . and I should have taken a picture of the dessert table with so many goodies there was room for nothing else!!! Mmmmmmmmmm!!! The company was the best and I just have to say: I AM SO BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH AN AMAZING FAMILY!!! What love!!!

Lily's 1st Birthday Party 11/15/08 : We got back from Florida the day before the party . . . so we were all a little off getting used to the 3 hour time difference! :) We thought we were running an hour late but then realized the car clock had not been set back. Phew! So confusing. Then on our way there we saw fires all around us. Fire trucks were passing along side of us in the car pool lane. We were sure the party couldn't continue as a picnic in the park with all the smoke but luckily the park was between two fires (sounds real lucky, huh?) and the wind was just right to keep the smoke away. Lily looked so cute in her little Tinkerbell outfit. The kids had a great time playing at the park. Paige is soooo good with all of them! The 91 and 57 were closed when we were trying to get home . . . so what would have taken an hour took us 3!

DisneyWorld November 13, 2008 Album 7 : Our last day . . . we headed out early to the Magic Kingdom to take advantage of extra magic hours. We stopped to take some cute pictures of our motel. At the park, Marc, Kim & Caleb got on Splash Mountain first. Weeee! Beat the crowds. We had our only lunch in a sit down restaraunt and Caleb fell fast asleep just as we were called in. Luckily we had a bench seat to lay him on. We got a fast pass for Thunder Mountain, but they wouldn't let Caleb on at the last minute, saying he was too short . . . even though he'd been on it before as well as all the other rides with the same height requirement. So Caleb was heartbroken. Nothing that the promise of picking out his own treat couldn't cure!!! Then we took a fun boatride to the Wilderness Lodge. It was nice and peaceful and we enjoyed a quiet dinner there before coming back to All Star Movies to pack it up! Our shuttle picked us up at 3:45 am. Ugh. We were home by about 12:30 pm our time. Gracie only slept an hour on the plane, while Caleb slept most of the way.

DisneyWorld November 12, 2008 Album 6 : We headed back to MGM studios to get in a few attractions we had missed the first time. It rained on us a little. The highlight for Gracie was seeing Mickey - and hugging him. The highlight for Caleb was the Backlot tour. That evening Uncle Mario & Aunt Simone came with the girls and the kids enjoyed playing on the playground and in the kiddie pool at the All Star Movies resort.

DisneyWorld November 11, 2008 Album 5 : We checked out of the Hilton to head back to a Disney Resort. On our way out we stopped for a photo shoot. It was so beautiful there. Then we headed to the Magic Kingdom. Poor Caleb suffered from some terrible diarrhea and was forced to wear Gracie's diapers (luckily he is such a skinny kid . . . they fit him fine). But as we arrived to the park he had to go - while in the parking lot - into a trash bag. It was a sad state of affairs for the boy!!! That night we went to the Pirate Dinner Adventure and they knickled and dimed us . . . . and it wasn't that great!

DisneyWorld November 10 2008 Album 4 : We started the day with a quick trip to the beautiful Hilton pool. Marc & Caleb had a quick dip while Kim stayed in the warm hot tub!!! Then we headed off to MGM Studios. Caleb had a blast meeting Buzz & Woody, we enjoyed the Indiana Jones stunt show, the kids were restless at the car stunt show, and Caleb begged to go on Tower of Terror twice. What a little thrill seeker! All the other riders were impressed by him. ;)

DisneyWorld November 8, 2008 Album 3 : We had a most wonderful home cooked breakfast at Mario & Simone's house . . . our best meal in days!!! The cousins loved playing together. Then we headed out for Blue Springs State Park where 17 manatees had been spotted that morning. We were lucky we got to see one! It was so much fun to take a walk on the boardwalk and enjoy the scenery. The kids loved running around with each other. Then we enjoyed haystacks back at the Rivera home. Yummy! If only Kim didn't suffer a migraine that evening. Luckily the Excedrin knocked it out in short order! By the way, thank you Mario & Simone for the tea - it was really yummy and quite soothing! What kind was it again?

DisneyWorld November 4-6, 2008 Album 1 : We flew in to Orlando on Tuesday the 4th. We left Monday evening as our flight departed Ontario at 12:55 a.m. Needless to say we were exhausted when we arrived. The first day was designated as "recovery" day. Mario, Simone, Aveline, Monette & Marlie came out to see us at our hotel, the Pop Century, on Disney property. The next morning we forced ourselves up and out of bed to hit Epcot center. On Thursday the 6th we headed to the Magic Kingdom (after sleeping in a little). We had extra magic hours so we were there until close to 12 a.m. It was when we returned to our hotel that Caleb fell off the bed (after jumping all around on them) and passed out! Scared me so bad!!! All was well though . . . despite loss of sleep! Luckily he had passed out because of crying so hard right after . . . not because of a blow to the head. He didn't complain of head pain after that. . . but I did wake him up in 4 hours to see how he was doing!

Fun at the Wisdom's! : We arrived late because Gracie's schedule was off and she didn't sleep the night before. So we let her take a little nap. We woke her up to go. She cried at first after we arrived, snuggling into Mommy. But she perked up at the thought of swimming. Then they jumped away on the trampoline. What a good life! Thank you Auntie Kathleen, Uncle Greg and Jason!!!

L.A. Fair September 18, 2008 : We went back for one more night Fair Fun. We're glad we did because we had missed some fun stuff. We got to see the Pirates sword fight up on the highwire, we got to go sledding and snowball fighting, we got to sse it snow, we saw the Chinese acrobats, pig races, and we saw a lot more animals. The kids had so much fun, and even though they were tired, they stayed awake and didn't want to leave!

Caleb at play : Caleb just got some Mega Blocks. He loves the Legos at Arisve's house so we went shopping for him. He didn't want Legos even though we were pushing for them. HE wanted Mega Blocks because they had Disney products. All his favorites. He plays with these for a very long time! Then he really loves going to the doctor/dentist so he begged for this doctor outfit. He doesn't want to be a doctor for Halloween, but he wanted to play doctor! ;)

L.A. Fair September 12, 2008 : We started with the animals again . . . trying to get Caleb not to be scared of them. Mommy got him to feed the goats/sheep finally while Daddy looked on in disbelief (Mommy is not an "animal person" - no offense). What sacrifices we make for our children. ;) Gracie was tired beyond reason having had no nap but she fought sleep tooth and nail because it was just too exciting. She is our animal lover! We were so glad Auntie Erika & Uncle Jimmy brought themselves and sweet baby Oliver! That made our day complete!!! We had a little junk food - fried zuchini (They take whole zuchini's and fry them in batter. They were amazingly huge and surprisingly lacking much flavor. Should've gone for the deep fried twinkies. :) Ugh!). Caleb & Daddy enjoyed a ride on a slide. We saw all kinds of fun things for sale - and refrained from buying a thing! :)

spider : I bravely got this thing off our living room ceiling and threw it outside (after losing track of it for a moment and then finding it dangling above me). Yes, I should have smashed it, but at that point I was keeping my distance and the bravery ended once the children were safe. It is probably harmless, but it looked foreign, exotic . . . and I've always heard that "red" is not good .. . on anything wild.

Disneyland with just Mommy : After paying $15 once to get Caleb's face painted, I bought the paints and had a go at it myself. I copied the design they used last time. He was thrilled and begging to go to Disneyland. I said we'd go once Daddy came home. . . but Daddy was going to be late. So, we headed off without him for my first trip alone with them. Caleb actually did very well and stayed by my side. He had one incident in the very crowded Mickey's House where he couldn't see me and bolted the opposite direction out the door. I had to yell for him once he was in hearing range and he was crying then. Poor baby. After that he stayed near.

9th Anniversary 09/05/08 : We were off to a rocky start on our 9th anniversary . . . Marc forgot . . . Kim had to work late . . . Marc cleaned the kitchen while Kim took the kids grocery shopping . . . Marc ate frozen vegetables . . . Kim ate tortilla's with some cheese in them . . . and we fell into bed exhausted. To the rescue the next evening were Erika & Jim. They offered to come babysit and PAY for a meal out for us. What a thoughtful sister and brother we have!!! We finally got to enjoy a couple of hours out alone together and it was so nice!

Labor Day Weekend Fun 2008 : The weekend started with a quick trip to Disneyland. The next day we met the McClures at Lake Gregory for a wonderful picnic lunch - provided by them!!! How nice!!! We spent a day cleaning & organizing our house - doing yardwork, cleaning the garage, etc. Monday we headed off to Great Grandma & Grandpa Edberg's house in Long Beach for a visit. Corona del Mar 2008 : After church we headed out to the beach. Apparently, so did everyone else in Southern California. It was so packed we couldn't find parking at Newport or Balboa (even the paid parking) so we drove on to Corona Del Mar. It was very crowded there too but at least we were able to park and find a little spot on the beach. The kids were MORE than ready to get out of the car. They both loved standing in the waves (after Gracie's initial fear). And they both loved playing in the sand. The trip was a success and worth the wait to get out on the beach (even though we forgot our screen tent)!

Hawaii 2007 : We got to go to Oahu in January of 2007 - shorty before Gracie's arrival on the scene. :) It was a tough plane ride being 7 months pregnant and handling an almost 2 year old. Wow! But we made it. We certainly enjoyed our short visit there!

Caleb's First Day of PRESCHOOL : Caleb couldn't wait for this day to come!!! He wanted to ride the bus . . . on the way there he said next time he'd ride his bike there (if he only knew how to ride a bike). He's in a hurry to be a big boy and I'm not sure if I like that! He enjoyed preschool although when asked he said he did "nothing" there. He did mention one boy with a green spiderman shirt was throwing up in the dirt. Go figure, the day after preschool Caleb has a fever and tummy ache.

Lake Powell 2006 : We had to put our Lake Powell pictures up to inspire us to book our next trip! We camped in Monument Valley, then met the family for a hike before loading up our bottom of the line houseboat. Scott came with us which made it really fun! My Dad had a new victim! And he did encourage Scott to hike up and then use a very untrustworthy rope to try and get down to a very high jumping spot! He did survive! Lots of fishing, swimming, hiking, tubing ensued and we all had a great time. We did decide the bottom of the line boat just wouldn't do again though (after having the better boat previously). After Lake Powell, we went to Mesa Verde and camped. Then we stopped at the Grand Canyon for one night. What a blast!!!

Sequim - Day 5 - Hoh Rainforest & Neah Bay : The Hoh Rainforest was beautiful and mossy. It was also much warmer and mosquito ridden than I would have expected. We saw one elk down by the river while we were driving. Then we drove out to Neah Bay for Marc to see. It was suddenly very foggy and cold. But the view was worth the long drive and hike. We were so starving - only having had snacks since our lucky charms breakfast, and we were running out of gas. It was a stressful drive back. All the gas stations were closed by 8 pm in the little towns we passed through. Luckily we made it back to Port Angeles - the best gas mileage we'd ever gotten (325 miles on our 15 gallon tank) and made it into a pizza place just before they closed. PHew!

Sequim - Day 8 - Leaving . . . visiting Ocheltree's : We left Sequim and headed to our next stop - Hillsboro, OR - where our wonderful friends were waiting for us. Becki & Rachel made us a wonderful dinner and Caleb had a blast with Chandler. We left at around 12:30 am and headed for home. We got home about 5 pm - so that wasn't to bad! It seemed so much faster going home than it did leaving. Weird! The kids slept more so I think that helped immensely on our time factor!

4th of July!!! : I just pulled my new camera out of the box (already having charged the battery) as we arrived at the McClure household and behold - - - my first pictures (without reading the manual or knowing much of anything). :) We had so much fun with the McClure clan. We had burgers, potato salad, baked beans and all kinds of yummy dessert (to die for chocolate cake and homemade ice cream care of Jim). Then we watched the Univ. of Redlands fireworks show from the sidewalk by Erika & Jim's house. What a blast thanks to the fine company we were in! Hope you enjoy the 102 photos (narrowed down from the 500 I took - yes 2 GB in one day Jim! Okay - it was automatically set at the highest setting). :)

Sabbath with the McClures : Oliver visited Sabbath School for the first time. When he woke up he looked a little dazed, but soon looked intrigued. Gracie just wanted to climb in and out of her chair (which was hard with her cute dress on). Daddy to Caleb to his Sabbath school class so he missed out on our fun! Brooklyn's 2nd Birthday Party in the 100 Acre Wood : Brooklyn's Winnie the Pooh party was ADORABLE!!! Of course her Mommy is so creative and talented - we knew it would be. :) My only regret is not being able to take more pictures - but between Gracie eating dirt & sand - and Caleb picking up sticks to play swords - and trying to lick the cake (and succeeding to my horror) - the pictures were put on hold! The kids had such a great time and I loved socializing between dashing to and fro supervising my children. I don't even have a picture of the most adorable birthday girl!!! I'll have to get Teresa to add some! :)

Kameron Meter's 3rd Birthday Party : 3/30/08 Caleb & Gracie had so much fun at Kameron's birthday party. Caleb had about 5 horse rides and he jumped in the jumper the rest of the time (with a quick jaunt in the petting zoo). Gracie had her very first pony ride - she seemed to really enjoy it. She really loved the petting zoo - which was amazing considering her brother is STILL afraid of the animals and most of the animals towered over her! The rest of the time she tried to master stepping from the grass to sidewalk and vice versa - quite a bit of endless joy involved in the feat for her. :) Thank you to Kameron's Mommy & Daddy for throwing such a smashing birthday bash!!! Disneyland March 2008 : Mommy's on Spring Break - Yay!!! Disneyland to spend the night! The pool was fun (although not so heated) and the park is always a favorite for us! Then we went home to pack up for Joshua Tree!

Joshua Tree Camping Experience March 2008 : Mommy had Spring Break so we headed off to try camping with two very small children in tow. The weather was perfect during the day, but FREEZING at night. Was it a success? Yes it that means we survived - No if it means Mommy wants to try it again real soon.
